About Us

Hello, my name is Holly Johnson, and I am the creator and owner of Newman Lake Candles. We are a family owned home based business. I am the candle maker and designer and my family (husband, Harry, and daughters, Katherine and Kayley) encourage and support my long hours of work in our workshop here at home in Newman Lake, Washington....the beautiful Northwest!

For a brief story of how Newman Lake Candles got started, I have always loved candles and was a avid candle buyer before I started making candles. I fell in love with a candle company that I wanted to distribute for. This ended up not working out for geographical reasons. I went on another candle company hunt but could not find the right company which had both outstanding candles and the right distributorship program. I became very discouraged and decided that I would learn how to make my own highly scented, quality candles. I had several things going for me: stay-at-home mom with time to put into learning and mastering the craft, a little money to invest, determination, artistic ability, a love for candles, and God to help me along!

I tested many different waxes, wax combinations and fragrance oils until I created candles that I was happy with and felt other candle lovers would be happy with too. Our candles have to pass my high standards -- burns safe, highly fragrant, burns clean, and is appealing to the eye. After spending many months and countless hours of testing, Newman Lake Candles was created in the Fall of 2005.

We use the finest ingredients to create highly fragrant and clean burning candles for candle lovers! All of our candles are hand poured which allows us to pay close attention to detail with every candle we make. I strive to produce new specialty products and continue to test new fragrances to add to our line often.
